Pacific Pine Home

Energy-efficient, sustainable homes — designed and built to suit your lifestyle and budget.

There’s no such thing as a ‘generic GreenSmart home’. Each GreenSmart home must be designed according to site conditions (including the property’s orientation and slope) and individual client requirements.

We make use of GreenSmart design principles — innovative design and construction techniques to improve energy efficiency and liveability.

By implementing natural light management, solar passive design, correct orientation, cross flow ventilation and insulation solutions, your GreenSmart home offers immediate benefits, such as:

  • Greatly reduced energy bills
  • Savings on your water bills – with built-in grey water treatment and recycling systems
  • Instant access to energy-efficient, solar hot water and plentiful fresh tank water – so you can use water whenever you want from day one
  • Ideal temperature conditions – without air conditioning
  • Plenty of natural light and low-voltage night lighting throughout all your living areas
  • Enviro-rated appliances.

Civic Steel Homes - Treading lightly on the earth

We choose the most environmentally-sensitive methods of site management, waste removal and material recycling. So, not only will your new home be attractive, but it will keep the environment that way too.

How we do it:

  • We look at site orientation and whether your living areas are receiving enough natural light. High-use rooms are well lit during the day. This not only keeps these areas warm in winter, but it also reduces your use of electric lighting — good for the environment and good for your power bill!
  • Correct cross flow ventilation can cut cooling costs dramatically. Orientation, materials, window placement and, most importantly, design to make the most of natural summer breezes to keep your home comfortable and airflow maximised.
  • For the cooler times of the year, you need to retain as much natural heat as possible. In addition to insulation, we’re able to reduce the need for additional heating by using particular building materials. The heat from the sun is drawn into these materials and slowly released at night. This idea, referred to as thermal mass, helps keep your home warm after the sun goes down.
  • Preserving water has never been more important. That is why we pay particular attention to installing water-saving devices, such as grey water treatment systems (so you can reuse water from showers, sinks and washing machines to use on your garden) and rain water tanks, to help reduce your water consumption.
